V Groove Laminate Flooring
Regarding V groove laminate flooringVGLF there are 2 types: Painted V groovepainted VG and pressed V groovepressed VG.
The edge of pressed VG is pressed down with machine. There is abrasion resistance on the edge. But the edge of painted VG is cut off. And there is no wear resistance layer on the bevel.
Pressed VG is a bit more expensive than painted VG due to extra material and process cost. But pressed VG is a bit more like hardwood flooringHF as its length is around 807mm instead of 1212mm. The length for HF is usually around 807mm.
VGLF becomes more and more popular due to its strong wear resistance hardwood like appearance easy maintenance and cheap price.
Like common laminate flooring VGLF is strong abrasion resistant. Scratch and press mark are difficult to appear on the surface of VLF. The ratings available are AC1 AC2 AC3 and AC4. But many manufacturers can’t work on AC3 because their grooving tool is too weak for AC3 rating on VGLF.
VGLF is very like HF due its surface and dimensions. The V shape on the 4 sides of VGLF is designed to imitate the edge of HF. Regarding painted VG the normal sizes are 1212*90*8.3mm 1212* 90*12.3mm 1212*126*8.3mm 1212*126*12.3mm 1212*143*8.3mm 1212*143*12.3mm 1212*163 *8.3mm 1212*163*12.3mm. For pressed VG the normal sizes are 807*90*8.3mm 807*90*12.3mm 807*126*8.3mm and 807*126*12.3mm. These sizes especially the sizes for pressed VG are the normal dimensions for HF. The bevel of painted VGLF is painted with wearing resistance lacquer because the support material would appear at the cut if there were no lacquer. The lacquer color is similar with the surface design of laminate flooring. Normally the work is done manually. So it is difficult for the painted bevel to be in line strictly. But you even can’t find the bevel is painted if the paint color is very similar with the surface color and the stadia is over 1 meter.
There is no gap on the bottom of the V groove after VGLF is installed. And the first layer of VGLF is wear resistance paper. Dirty is very hard to penetrate the first of layer of VGLF. And dirty is easy to remove. So VGLF is easy to care.
The available surface for pressed VG is only mirror surface. Painted VG can work with almost all types of surface. UVshine and hand scraped surface already have bevel at the edge so V groove finish is not necessary for the 2 kinds of surfaces.
